Band Battle is Saturday in Carbondale

The annual Band Battle returns to Sopris Park in Carbondale from 1 to 5 p.m. Saturday.

Presented by Jazz Aspen Snowmass, the event will feature 12 student bands and soloists from throughout the Roaring Fork Valley and beyond. The groups represent a number of genres including reggae, rock, jazz and more. The winning band will receive free recording time at Great Divide Recording Studios in Aspen.

This free event will be held in conjunction with the annual Carbondale Dandelion Days Festival, which kicks off at 9 a.m.

“This year’s lineup includes a great mix of new bands along with some that have become Band Battle favorites,” JAS President Jim Horowitz said. “As always, we expect a great afternoon of music and invite the entire community to join us in supporting these talented young musicians.”

Band Battle is sponsored by Alpine Bank, Alchemy Audio Visual Concert Systems, Aspen 82 and The Aspen Times. For more information on Band Battle ’14 and other Jazz Aspen Snowmass In-Schools Education programs, visit
