Bad air? No wonder

Dear Editor:Here in Diesel Fumes, Colo., we found out this last week how the city resolved the PM-10 air pollution issue. They moved the monitor from 10 feet above and next to Main Street, to a building almost a block from Main Street, which puts the monitor 40 feet in the air. It will be interesting to see how they resolve the other air pollution issue, which says Aspen produces twice the pollution of any other city its size.Perhaps we should look at the development City Council has permitted since 1999. In 1999, 269 building permits were issued which represented 284,305 square feet of construction. In 2005, 752 building permits were issued, which represented 1,307,426 square feet of construction. It is little wonder Aspen has an air pollution problem.Ron ThompsonAspen
