“A visit was made yesterday afternoon to the new brewery being erected at the mouth of Hunter Creek, opposite town, and the visit found to be well worth making,” the Aspen Daily Times noted on Nov. 1, 1885.

“The brewery is a 70 by 50 feet frame building, being put up substantially and carefully, and when finished will be a complete establishment. An engine is already set up of 80-horsepower, the boiler being almost entirely encased in brick. There will be six fermenting vats, the capacity of the brewery being fifteen barrels of 31 ½  gallons per day. In addition there is a commodious malt house, in which is now stored two car loads of malt, ready for use, and more is on the way. It is expected that active operations will begin next week, and Aspen need never then be at want for a generous supply of good beer. Mr. Christopher Sanders will be in charge of the brewery. He and Jack Muck, of Leadville, are the proprietors.”
