Baby got back

Dear Editor:

Thank you to everyone who helped me try to find my golden retriever the night of the Fourth of July. Startled by the fireworks, AJ jumped out of my open car door while I was putting my daughter in her car seat. He immediately took off running, and no one could catch him. I was devastated, to say the least.

I couldn’t believe how many people unselfishly came to the rescue to help look for AJ. It says a lot about this town, and I couldn’t have been more grateful that night to know that I had the help of so many people. Marilyn (and your hubby) at the Grog Shop … you rock. Holly and Goodman, you’re two of the best friends a gal could have. Brandon and Adam at the front door at The Little Nell … two guys who take pride in their jobs and helping people. The woman who gave me her daughter’s warm clothes for my daughter. Everyone I met on the street willing to call if they saw AJ. Pierce, the couple of hours away from work that you gave me to “gather myself.” And, Jaws, one of my dearest friends (and guardian angel not by choice) who happened to “stumble” upon AJ the next morning in town ” I owe you the world! I have my “baby” back, and after a good bath and a long nap, he’s back to normal.

This town and its people truly are special, and everyone who knows AJ the dog (who doesn’t?) knows how lucky I, Mike and baby Kaiya are to have such an awesome dog!
