AVSC team kicks off season

Despite a lack of snow and howling winds, the Aspen Valley Ski/Snowboard Club Alpine team had an impressive showing in its first competition of the season.

The Aspen team traveled to Telluride earlier last month, and a number of AVSC athletes highlighted the event.

In the super G, Chad Keran finished fifth, Ryan Potvin (seventh), Will McDonald (eighth) and Jarod Hollinger rounded out the top ten AVSC finishers at 10th.

The AVSC women’s team was paced by a second-place finish from Lindsay Lathrop alongside teammate Kate Jensen who finished third. Kelly Lussan finished seventh and Ashley Cantrell finished 10th

On the second day of super G competition, Keran again finished at the head of the AVSC group at third. He was followed by teammates Stephan Reveal (fifth), Karl Adam (sixth) and Potvin (seventh).

Jensen grabbed the first top position of the young season for AVSC with her first-place finish. Lussan and Cantrell finished fourth and sixth respectively.

In the giant slalom, McDonald finished second to pace AVSC with Potvin also grabbing a podium finish in third place.

Lussan took top honors for the AVSC women while Kelly Lussan and Cantrell finished sixth and seventh respectively.

The following day, Potvin finished third for the AVSC men while McDonald finished fifth.

Jensen and Lussan finished second and third respectively and Kelly Lussan finished seventh.
