AVSC represents best of Aspen

Dear Editor:The Aspen Valley Ski and Snowboard Club wishes to thank the Aspen Chamber for naming us the Nonprofit of the Year for Winterskl 2006.AVSC now reaches a record 1,800 children and teens, creating opportunities for them to engage and excel in winter sports. AVSC was founded in 1937 and has brought the joy of the mountains in winter to generations of locals. Our participants make new friends, build their self-confidence and learn how to succeed on the slopes and in life. This would not be possible without a passionate board of directors, dedicated staff, our talented coaches, committed volunteers, excited participants and the wonderful support we receive from individuals, businesses, foundations and local municipalities.Anyone interested in learning more about our mission and recent success can visit us at http://www.teamavsc.com. This year’s Winterskl theme was “Winter Fun since ’51.” At AVSC we’re laying the groundwork so that future generations get to experience winter fun until 2051 and beyond. On behalf of all of us at the club, thank you for this honor and the recognition that AVSC truly represents the best of Aspen. Alan ColeAVSC marketing and development manager
