AVH not receptive on weekends

Dear Editor:

Recently I went to Aspen Valley Hospital to visit a friend on a Sunday afternoon. To my surprise there was no one at the reception area. I waited a few minutes hoping that someone would show up to give me the number of my friend’s room. Nobody came and finally I ended up at the nurses station, where I was informed that on Saturday and Sunday the reception desks were closed.

I was appalled and so was everybody I told about this situation. Needless to say that it is dangerous to leave the entrance to a hospital totally unguarded. The security guard walks around the premises, but that does not enable him to watch the entrance to the building.

I very much hope that this dangerous situation will not continue and that somebody will be engaged to be at the entrance on weekends. Maybe some volunteers?
