AVH names Slater nurse of the year


Margie Slater was named Nurse of the Year at Aspen Valley Hospital earlier this month, an honor bestowed by her fellow nurses at the local hospital.

Slater lives in Glenwood Springs and has worked for AVH for two years. As an obstetrics nurse, she is certified in fetal monitoring and is a neonatal resuscitation provider instructor. According to the hospital, she was chosen for the award for her leadership qualities, nursing excellence, patient care and commitment to the nursing profession.

Other nominees for this year’s Nurse of the Year award were: Belinda Faulhaber, Judy Evans, and EO Anderson, House Supervisors; Rachel Shuck, Marcia Hone, and Terry Larson, Patient Care Unit; PJ Wallace, Same Day Surgery; Cathleen Haggerty, Surgery; Scarlett Bland, Intensive Care Unit; and Melody Durham, Cardiac Rehabilitation.
