Authorities await autopsy results in Glenwood-area murder

GLENWOOD SPRINGS – The Garfield County Sheriff’s Office is still waiting for the Mesa County Coroner’s report on the autopsy of Janine Ann Johler.
According to sheriff’s office spokeswoman Tanny McGinnis, the office had not seen a report as of Tuesday morning and will not release any information when it becomes available, including the cause of death, because the case is under investgation.
Johler’s dismembered body was found in an apple orchard,just off Interstate 70 and Canyon Creek Road, west of Glenwood Springs, on June 12. A teenage orchard worker found Johler’s remains in a bag that may have been torn open by animals. Her body was identified on June 19. She was last seen at her Aurora home on May 1 and, according to a 9NEWS report at the time of her disappearance, Aurora police described her as having a diminished mental capacity.
Authorities released a statement asking for anyone with information regarding the case to contact either the Garfield County Sheriff’s Office at (970) 945-0453, Garfield County Crime Stoppers at (970) 945-0101 or Denver Metro Crime Stoppers at (720) 913-7867.
Garfield County authorities would not comment on whether the request yielded any credible information.
