At peace

Dear Editor:I want to take this opportunity to thank all of you who attended the memorial Mass for my daughter, Judy Byrnes, at St. Mary’s Church. It cheered our hearts to see so many of Judy’s friends, her schoolmates (some of whom took part in the Mass), and our friends. I wanted to greet each of you personally at the reception, so if I missed you, please forgive me. Rest assured, we appreciated each one of you.Judy had a rare brain cancer, and the doctors gave her a 2 to 3 percent chance of surviving. During the long two years of her illness, we prayed for a miracle that was not to be. We know that the angels came to take her, for God was calling. We would like to thank all of you who helped along this two-year journey with your concern, your love and especially your prayers. I will never forget you. Please keep in touch and keep us in your prayers. So many of you expressed to us that you thought the memorial Mass was so beautiful. So did we. I can’t take much credit. I chose the music and the readings, but I could not have put it all together without the help of Father O’Brien, our pastor; Dan Emerson, our organist and music director; Carol Satrapa, our church secretary, and Kathy Pelowsky, who sang so beautifully. We know that in time our broken hearts will heal and with God’s help come to accept the death of Judy: wife, mother, daughter; our angel who is now at peace.Elva FitzpatrickAspen
