At least we can be grateful for ski season
November 3, 2005
There is a great temptation to say, “I told you so,” especially if one has been telling you so for some time.
That Bush’s manifest flaws would catch up with him sometime seemed clear, but that it would catch up with him in a couple of weeks, I for one, never would have predicted. But there it is, going all the way from his lack of empathy, until the politics made it imperative, for the Katrina victims, to his attempt to appoint an unqualified hack to the Supreme Court ” you had everything on display. Scooter Libby is something else, and we will have to see how that will play out.
But don’t rejoice. Barring the unforeseen, the man has three more years. The midterm elections don’t seem all that promising. The House seats are glued to the incumbents, and in the Senate more Democrats than Republicans are up for election. Even the presidential election does not seem all that promising. Hillary Clinton? I wouldn’t vote for her.
But the ski season is upon us. For that we can be grateful.
