Aspen’s parade winners

Staff report
The Aspen Times
Aspen, CO, Colorado

ASPEN – Dogs, cats, bears, alpacas, horses and a bunch of goofy humans showed up to Wednesday’s Fourth of July parade – but only a few can be declared the winners, as announced by the Aspen Chamber Resort Association after our deadline Wednesday.

Parade entries were judged by community members: Kathy Fry, Design Workshop and Jeff Bay, Hotel Aspen and the Molly Gibson Lodge.

The parade grand marshals were George Stranahan, Robert Craig and Michael Cohen. They are the founders of the Aspen Center for Physics, which is celebrating its 50th anniversary this summer.

The parade winners by category are:

• Most Patriotic – Valley Veterans Parade Committee

• Most Patriotic (honorable mention) – Aspen Fire Department

• Most Outrageous – T Lazy 7

• Most Humorous – Ajax Adventure Camp

• Best Children’s – Anderson Ranch Arts Center

• Best Animal – U.S. Forest Service with Woodsy Owl and Smokey Bear

• Best Music – Aspen Music Festival
