Aspen’s February snowfall slightly below average

ASPEN – February snowfall in Aspen was slightly below the average for the month, according to data collected by the city’s Water Department.

The city recorded 23.51 inches of snow last month at the water plant, at an elevation of 8,161 feet. The average for February is 25.55 inches, but the record, recorded in February 1936, is 79 inches.

The average high temperature in February was 34.88 degrees, while the warmest day was Feb. 26, when the high reached 46 degrees. Highs reached into the 40s on five days during the month.

The average low for the month was 11.33 degrees, but lows dipped into the single digits on 13 days. A low of zero on Feb. 24 was the coldest recording for the month.
