Aspen’s classic cars rally on Independence Pass Saturday
The Independence Pass Foundation will host the first annual “Class on the Pass” event on Saturday, featuring classic and sports cars on one of the most epic drives in the world, over Independence Pass from Aspen to Twin Lakes.
For those with suitable cars, either pre-1973 sports and special interest, or newer sports cars, there is still time to sign up and participate. Visit http://www.independencepass.org/class.html or show up at 9 a.m. at the Buttermilk parking lot Saturday. Cars already registered include early Jaguars, Corvettes, Austin Healeys, Triumphs and MGs.
The public is welcome to come view the cars at 9 a.m. prior to departure from Buttermilk at 9:30.
The Independence Pass Foundation works to protect the ecology of this corridor while promoting education and sustainable recreation in this sensitive alpine environment. For more information, call Karin Teague at (970) 274-9690.

: The Colorado Department of Transportation gives Aspen’s roundabout a poor grade in terms of level of service so it’s thinking about making changes. But first, a study or two must be done.
