Aspen residents Tom and Jody Cardamone have been nominated as the king and queen of the 65th Annual Wintersköl celebration, set for Jan. 14-17.
Event organizer Aspen Chamber Resort Association selected the married couple based on feedback from Facebook followers.
“The 2016 Wintersköl King and Queen, Tom and Jody Cardamone have been instrumental in creating the strong positive environmental ethic that characterizes the Aspen community today,” ACRA said in a statement issued Thursday.
Both have been instrumental in the success of Aspen Center for Environmental Studies. Judy was the nonprofit’s first director, while Tom later became its executive director in 1982. He currently is a consultant for ACES and executive director of Snowmass Discovery.

With many lingering questions still surrounding the fate of Aspen’s historic Old Powerhouse, City Council decided during Monday’s work session to hold off on providing staff direction on moving the preservation project forward until more information can be presented.
