Aspen Valley Polo Club hosting tournament

Polo is on the weekend sporting agenda in the Roaring Fork Valley.

The Aspen Valley Polo Club is hosting the Basalt Handicap tournament Saturday. The polo tournament will continue through Sunday.

Polo matches are played at the club’s facility at 3275 County Road 100 near Carbondale.

The public is invited to watch the polo action.

Last weekend, the host Aspen Valley Polo Team won the Aspen Valley Cup in front of a big local crowd and on international ChukkerTV.

The home team of Marc and Grant Ganzi, Carlitos Gracida and Juancito Bollini combined to take the first tournament title of the summer season.

La Karina (Melissa Ganzi, Brian Boyd, Mariano Gracida, Juan Bollini) was second.

McMorris returns to win X Games Aspen slopestyle gold, edges Kleveland

Mark McMorris held off Norway’s Marcus Kleveland and Sweden’s Sven Thorgren to win the men’s slopestyle snowboard final for his 21st career Winter X Games medal. Tahoe rider Jamie Anderson also has 21 medals after taking silver in Saturday’s women’s big air snowboard final, which is a Winter X Games record.
