Aspen Valley Hospital visitation policy altered

Aspen Times staff report
Aspen, CO Colorado

Aspen Valley Hospital has modified its visitors’ policy as a precautionary measure to protect patients from influenza-like illness and reduce the potential spread of illness within the facility, according to a press release issued Friday.

The new policy has a two-visitor limit for a given patient. Children 12 and under are not permitted to visit. Previously, nurses worked with patients and their families to determine what was appropriate based on the patient’s condition, scheduled procedures, and other activities involved in the patient’s care.

As in the past, people who are sick are asked not to visit patients. Hand washing and respiratory hygiene (coughing/sneezing into a tissue or sleeve) continues to be encouraged.

The hospital expects the policy will stay in place throughout the winter season. For more information, call 925-1120.
