Aspen under winter advisory

ASPEN ” The next in a series of winter storms will move into western Colorado Thursday, according to the National Weather Service, and the Aspen area could see up to 10 inches of new snow by midday on Friday.
The Elk Mountains surrounding Aspen and Snowmass are under a winter weather advisory from 6 p.m. Thursday to noon on Friday, according to the weather service, which is predicting 5 to 10 inches of snow for the area, with higher amounts on exposed west- and northwest-facing slopes.
Snow remains in the forecast through Saturday night ” another five inches or so are possible, according to the weather service. Highs in the 20s are predicted Friday, Saturday and Sunday, with cloudy skies. Overnight lows of zero to 10 above are forecast on Friday and Saturday , warming to 5 to 15 on Sunday night.
A 40 percent chance of snow remains in the forecast on Monday ” President’s Day ” with highs in the 20s.
