Aspen to host urgent meeting

ASPEN – The Aspen City Council plans to hold what it’s calling an emergency meeting at 4 p.m. Friday to address issues that could surface if a wildfire strikes the area.

The public is invited to attend the meeting, which will be held at Aspen Council Chambers, located in the basement of City Hall.

The chief purpose of the meeting is to request more funding for wildfire public information and meet with Pitkin County officials about emergency plans if a wildfire strikes in the Aspen area, according to a statement issued Thursday.
