Aspen to host first two stages of USA Pro Challenge
Organizers announced this morning that for the second straight year, Aspen will play host to the first two stages of the USA Pro Challenge.
Organizers also said that the race will provide its first-ever mountaintop finish
The event kicks off Monday, Aug. 18, with an Aspen circuit race. On Aug. 19, cyclists will ride from Aspen to Mt. Crested Butte. The third stage starts in Gunnision en route to a mountaintop finish on Monarch Mountain. Aug. 21 is a Colorado Springs circuit race; cyclists go from Woodland Park to Breckenridge on Aug. 22, while a time trial will be held in Vail on Aug. 23. Details for the final stage, set for Aug. 24, have not been announced.
“We receive a lot of feedback from fans about the race and in particular the route, so, for the first time ever, we’re having fans weigh in on the final stage,” said Shawn Hunter, CEO of the USA Pro Challenge. “We’re excited to hear from our passionate fans. The 2014 edition is going to be bigger and better than ever.”
