Aspen to host annual free electronic waste collection
Aspen will host its annual free electronic waste collection event, designed to prevent electronics from ending up in the landfill, on Saturday, May 3, according to a press release.
The event reflects the city’s ongoing commitment to sustainability and responsible waste management and will take place from 8 a.m. to 12 p.m. at the Marolt Housing parking lot, located at 100 Marolt Place.
Residents are encouraged to bring their unwanted small household electronics, including computers, printers, televisions, keyboards, phones, and alarm clocks, according to the press release. To ensure safety and efficiency, attendees must remain in their vehicles while staff handle the unloading and sorting process.
Certain items, such as batteries, light bulbs, large appliances, refrigerators, air conditioners, thermostats, and devices containing hazardous chemicals, will not be accepted. The event is limited to residential e-waste only — materials from businesses will not be accepted.
Last year’s collection effort successfully diverted 19,760 pounds of electronic waste from the landfill. More information about this year’s event is available at aspen.gov/ewaste.
