Aspen to hold Saturday Market Winterfest
November 13, 2009
ASPEN – The Aspen Saturday Market will make its first-ever wintertime run in December, the city announced Friday.
On two Saturdays, Dec. 12 and 19, food and artisan vendors are invited to set up shop in the Rio Grande Plaza (above the Rio Grande parking garage) from 10:30 a.m. to 3 p.m. for what’s being dubbed the Saturday Market Winterfest. Colorado-grown and produced items will be sold.
The town’s summertime market takes place outdoors, on a block of Hopkins Avenue and a block of Hunter Street.
News of Aspen’s winter market comes on the heels of the recent announcement that a winter farmer’s market will take place at Willits in Basalt. Basalt’s downtown summer market debuted this year. Food vendors and artisans are now being courted to set up booths at a 13-week market indoors at Willits Town Center, starting Saturday, Nov. 28.
In Aspen, vendor applications to take part in the December markets are due at the city on Nov. 30 at 5 p.m. Go to http://www.aspenpikin.com for an application. Vendors must sell items that are made, grown or produced in Colorado.
