Aspen Summit for Life set for Friday, Saturday
The Chris Klug Foundation’s 11th Annual Aspen Summit for Life events are set for Friday and Saturday.
Wine and Dine for Life, 6 p.m., Aspen Cooking School — Festivities begin with a fundraising dinner benefiting the Chris Klug Foundation. The Aspen Cooking School will offer wine pairings from Failla, specialty cocktails from Spring 44 vodka, music by DJ Dylan and favors from Backcountry Brownies. Tickets are available at http://www.summitforlife.org.
Party for Life, 9 p.m., Aspen Cooking School — The event will include drink specials from Spring 44 Vodka and live music by DJ Dylan. This year’s event features a “Chopped”-style chefs’ cook-off competition. Party for Life is hosted at the Aspen Cooking School and is open to the public.
Yoga at LuluLemon, 9:30 a.m., LuluLemon Aspen — Begin the Summit for Life race day with a yoga session with Shakti Shala. Classes are available for a donation and all proceeds will benefit Summit for Life.
11th Annual Aspen Summit for Life Uphill, 5 p.m. recreational start, 6 p.m. competitive start, Aspen Mountain — Contestants race from the base of Aspen Mountain, climbing 3,267 feet over 21/2 miles to the top.
The post-race party at the summit will include dinner by The Little Nell, live music, and awards for top fundraisers and racers presented by liver recipient and Olympic bronze medalist Chris Klug.
Ride for Life — Skip the uphill hike and ride the Silver Queen Gondola straight to the summit for the post-race party and dinner.
Snowed In — Those who want to support the event but are unable to attend can opt to be “snowed in” and still show support by sponsoring a participant or making a general donation.

Perhaps it’s because we are in the abbreviated days of winter and I instinctively know that the sun is shining down-under. But every January I go through a nostalgic period where Australian wine dominates my mind.
