Aspen Summit for Life events set
September 29, 2011
ASPEN – Details for the sixth annual Aspen Summit for Life, with events Dec. 9-10 in Aspen, are now available.
The nighttime race up Aspen Mountain is a fundraiser for the Chris Klug Foundation, a nonprofit that promotes organ-donor awareness and focuses on improving the quality of life for organ donors and their families, candidates and recipients.
Last year’s Aspen Summit for Life was record-breaking in terms of participation, fundraising and awareness.
“The funds raised from the 2010 Aspen Summit for Life weekend made it possible for the Chris Klug Foundation to host over 50 awareness events nationwide in 2011 and provide 675 schools with our new Donor Dudes Educational Video,” said Aspen resident Chris Klug, the nonprofit’s founder, a former Olympic snowboarder and liver transplant recipient. “This year is sure to be even more far-reaching, with exciting changes to the lineup of activities and the launch of our redesigned website.”
The events start at 6:30 p.m. Dec. 9, with the fifth annual Wine and Dine for Life at Sky Hotel. Pacifica Seafood and Raw Bar will cater the event. The cost is $250 per person, of which $200 is tax-deductible. At 10 p.m., 39 Degrees Lounge will play host to the Party for Life, which is open to the public.
The Dec. 10 uphill race will have two phases – a recreational division that starts at 5 p.m., and a competitive field with a 6 p.m. starting time.
