Aspen Skiing Co. is relaunching its Tenants for Turns program for the upcoming winter season.
The housing crisis in the Roaring Fork Valley has continued to escalate and Aspen Skiing Co. is offering incentives to those who are willing to rent out a unit, guest house, accessory dwelling unit, mother-in-law unit or even an extra bedroom, according to Aspen Snowmass.
Homeowners and landlords who lease a room to an Aspen Skiing Co. employee can choose between a full season’s pass, 10 single-day passes or a $1,200 gift certificate for any Aspen Snowmass product. This could include meals or rooms at the Limelight hotels in Aspen or Snowmass, ski gear from Four Mountain Sports, ski and snowboard lessons or any of Aspen Snowmass’s on-mountain dining options.
The incentive is available for new leases that take effect after Oct. 1. Landlords or homeowners who participated last year and sign a new lease for the upcoming winter are eligible.
“We were very pleased with how the community embraced the program last year. Almost 40 employees were able to find a room,” said Jim Laing, chief human resources officer at Aspen Skiing Co. “Skiers and business owners the whole length of the valley — and, of course, guests to our resort community — all benefit when our ski areas are operating with optimal staffing. We’re hopeful that the community at large, through Tenants for Turns, will participate in even greater numbers this year to help offset a housing problem that continues to outpace its solutions.”
Skico is asking the community to spread the word about Tenants for Turns throughout the valley. Aspen Snowmass employees with a room to rent can also participate in the program. Lease terms are up to the lessor and employee, but will need to meet certain parameters to qualify for the incentive package upon verification of the lease by Skico.
