Aspen snow dance planned to jump start ski season

ASPEN – Organizers of the Chris Klug Foundation’s seventh annual Summit for Life uphill at Aspen Mountain Saturday have decided it would be great to start the event with a snow dance.

“Winter seems to be taking its sweet time this year, and the avid skiers in Aspen are getting antsy,” said a statement from the Summit For Life organizers.

Everyone is invited to attend the dance and try to improve conditions for the ski season. Dancers should be at the Silver Queen Gondola Plaza at 4:45 p.m. Saturday.

Giovanna DiRusso, fashion writer for the Aspen Daily News, and her girls will lead the dance. DJ DC will mix Bruno Mars’ new hit “Locked Out of Heaven.” Chris Klug will host the classic Snow Plow dance.

“Dancers are encouraged to wear vintage ski togs to encourage the ski gods of yore to send snow our way,” organizers said in their statement. “Let’s all unlock our heaven!”

The Summit For Life is an event that helps raise awareness of organ and tissue donation. Participants help spread the message about the importance of being an organ donor and that transplant recipients can lead active, healthy lives.
