Aspen should be proud

Dear Editor:

The Visa Aspen Winternational is always a special time for the U.S. Ski Team. It’s the domestic kickoff to the alpine season and a chance for friends, family and supporters to convene in the great town of Aspen to watch world-class ski racing.

This year, not only did Aspen put on the quality event we’ve grown to know, but something was a little different. A little better.

From the organizing committee to volunteers to the ever-supporting community, it was clear that this World Cup stood out as one of the best Aspen has ever produced. It was a great way to showcase our stars like Julia Mancuso and Lindsey Vonn and to watch the World Cup homecoming of Resi Stiegler. This year’s Visa Aspen Winternational was recognized by all, including the International Ski Federation, as among one of the most memorable events in the famous ski town.

On behalf of the U.S. Ski and Snowboard Association, I would like to sincerely thank the Aspen Skiing Co., the Visa Aspen Winternational organizing committee and the Aspen community for hosting a best-in-the-world event. You should be proud.

Bill Marolt

president and CEO, U.S. Ski and Snowboard Association
