ASPEN – The Wheeler Opera House and San Francisco-based Rooftop Comedy will present the third annual Aspen Rooftop Comedy Festival June 10-13 at the Wheeler. This year’s event not only expands by a day over last year’s three-day format, but also adds a special Pre-Festival Locals Day on June 9, and will include performances at Steve’s Guitars in Carbondale, late-night, open-mike shows in Aspen and free film screenings.
Featured shows at the festival include Rooftop After Dark, Witstream Live, Big Saturday Night and Theme Park Improv. Among the acts set to perform are last year’s Comic’s Comic winner, Pete Lee; the “maybe-Christian” duo God’s Pottery; Moshe Kosher; Michael Ian Black; and Marc Maron, who has made a record number of appearances on “Late Night with Conan O’Brien.”
Two films are set for free screenings: “Daddy Longlegs,” about a Manhattan father spending two weeks with his young sons; and “Meeting Spencer,” co-written by Aspenite Andrew Kole and starring Jeffrey Tambor as a failed Hollywood director who has returned to Broadway.
The Wheeler is currently offering a full festival pass for $99, and a $50 four-punch pass. Single-show tickets will be available June 4. Packages including hotel rooms and tickets are also available. For full ticket information, go to wheeleroperahouse.com., or at aspenshowtix.com.
