Aspen, Roaring Fork schools closed Wednesday as major snowstorm continues

As the major winter storm continues to roll through Colorado, the Aspen School District has canceled all classes for Wednesday, the district announced Wednesday morning.

The Roaring Fork School District also has canceled classes and activities scheduled for Wednesday.

A winter storm warning remains in effect until 11 a.m. Thursday for the Aspen area. The Aspen Skiing Co. reported Wednesday morning that 19 inches of snow has dropped in the past 24 hours at Snowmass Resort, and 25 inches in the past 48 hours. The snow report also measured 10 inches at Aspen Highlands and 7 at Aspen Mountain in the past 24 hours.
