Martha Luttrell, a veteran talent agent who retired to Aspen, died of pancreatic cancer Monday in Calabasas, California. She was 80.

After spending 25 years representing directors, actors, writers, and musicians at ICM, she began living on Crystal Lake Road and became a supporter of the arts in Aspen, according to her friend Holly Goldberg Sloan. Luttrell had flown to Los Angeles from Aspen the first week of October, leaving her home in Colorado because of medical issues.

“She first came to ski, fell in love with the mountain and the people, and later would tell people that the best time of year was the summer,” Sloan wrote about Luttrell’s Aspen days.

Luttrell was a founding member of the Baguettes, which joined forces with Lift-Up to operate the Aspen Food Pantry. She was involved in the Aspen Institute, the Aspen Music Festival and she raised money and planned events for Aspen Film.

Latrell, born in Vancouver, Canada, got one of her first jobs working at Capitol Records answering the phones and was quick to form friendships there that would last for the rest of her life. Should later went on to guide the careers of Susan Sarandon, Sam Shepard, Waylon Jennings, and more stars.

“Once settled in Aspen, she learned to play golf. She hiked all the great trails and she introduced her favorite Aspen things to countless friends,” Sloan wrote. “Always up for a good time, Luttrell organized horseback riding camping trips, learned to fly-fish, and loved every minute of the annual Fourth of July parade.”

She is survived by her nephew Peter Luttrell, his wife Dr. Stephanie White, and their two children; nieces Heather and Wendy Luttrell; and her goddaughter Francesca Bill. A celebration of her life will be held at a future date. Donations in her honor can be made to the Aspen Community Foundation at https://aspencommunityfoundation.org/.
