Aspen receives recognition for its accounting

ASPEN – The Government Finance Officers Association of the United States and Canada has awarded the Certificate of Achievement for Excellence in Financial Reporting to the city of Aspen for its comprehensive annual financial report.

“The Certificate of Achievement is the highest form of recognition in the area of government accounting and financial reporting, and its attainment represents a significant accomplishment by a government and its management,” said Stephen Gauthier, of the Government Finance Officers Association.

The organization recognized accountant Chris Lundgren for meeting and demonstrating a constructive “spirit of full disclosure” to clearly communicate the city of Aspen’s financial story in its annual report.

The Certificate of Achievement was judged by an impartial panel of the Government Finance Officers Association, which is a nonprofit professional association serving approximately 17,500 government finance professionals.
