Aspen, Pitkin County phones out for weekend

Aspen Times staff report
Aspen, CO Colorado

ASPEN – The relocation of fiber optic cables this weekend means customers won’t be able to reach various city of Aspen and Pitkin County government offices by phone.

The work is scheduled to begin at 6 p.m. Friday. It will be completed, at the earliest, by late Sunday and could affect phone systems on Monday. City Hall, the Aspen Golf Club, Aspen Recreation Center, city Water Department, city Parks Department, Pitkin County Senior Center, Aspen Ice Garden, county landfill, and Red Brick and Yellow Brick schools are expected to be affected.

There will be no disruption in phone service to the police and sheriff’s offices, or for 911 calls, according to the city.

It’s possible phones will remain operational at the golf course and the ARC, but those interested in scheduling tee times or tennis court reservations are advised to do so online at http://www.aspenrecreation.net – click on Reservations.

Though no one may be answering the telephone at the ARC this weekend, it will be open during its regularly scheduled hours.
