The Aspen Snowmass 2025/56 ski pass will feature art designed by influential contemporary artist Ed Ruscha, parent company Aspen One announced on Thursday.
Ruscha has work in museums across the world; his pieces have been featured in the Museum of Modern Art, The Guggenheim Museum in New York City, The Centre Pompidou in Paris, and The National Gallery in London, among other famous museums.
“As one of the most influential contemporary artists of our time, Ruscha’s work is thought provoking and boundary-pushing,” Aspen One CEO Dave Tanner said in a press release.
Ruscha described himself in his early artistic career as an “abstract artist … who deals with subject matter,” according to the release.
He works with both natural and artificial landscapes using varied media as well as “humor and wit,” the release continues.
His work lands on the ticket as part of Aspen One’s “Art in Unexpected Places” program, which also features on-mountain artwork.
“The contributions of Ruscha mark an extraordinary moment in time for the ArtUP program as an artist of his caliber showcases his works via this medium,” the release states.
