Aspen medics perform CPR on cyclist found in pond near Cemetery lane bike path

A man cycling by himself on the bike path near the intersection of Cemetery Lane and Highway 82 was found in a drainage pond by a passerby Wednesday evening.

Aspen Police Officer Robert Fadrocini said the man had a medical event of some kind and that responders performed CPR. Fadrocini said the man was transported to another hospital “downvalley” and said he thought it was St. Mary’s, which is located in Grand Junction.

Fadrocini wouldn’t comment on the man’s condition Wednesday night other than to say he was still alive upon transport. He wouldn’t comment when asked about the man’s age and place of residence.

“We haven’t been able to notify next of kin yet,” Fadrocini said.
