Aspen man faces assault charges

ASPEN ” An Aspen man faces two felony charges for second-degree assault after he allegedly punched two men early Saturday morning, police said.

Mark Montijo, 38, remained in the Pitkin County jail Sunday on $10,000 bond.

Montijo was arrested shortly after he allegedly assaulted the men outside of Eric’s Bar around 2 a.m., Aspen police officer Chip Seamans said.



Both men were taken to the hospital and released. One victim was knocked unconscious, Seamans said.

Montijo is expected to be advised of the charges, both class IV felonies, Monday in Pitkin County District Court.
