Aspen is expensive enough

Dear Editor:

I saw in your paper recently about how the Aspen Chamber Resort Association wants to create a new 1 percent tax or fee on room rents for local marketing. I don’t think this is a good idea at all since the economy is bad, and I don’t feel this will help. It’s hard to believe they would present this idea when the tax is high enough as it is, and visitors are reluctant to visit Aspen because of high prices.

Recently everyone who calls my lodge for possible reservations asks what our least expensive rate is, and they all ask how much the room tax is, so let’s not let this go.
