Aspen Homes Tour returns for 47th run
The Aspen Homes Tour, a benefit for the Aspen Historical Society and Aspen Community United Methodist Church, will return for its 47th run on Saturday from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m.
The tour consists of a walk through six of Aspen’s most intriguing private homes and gardens. The houses included in the tour will be staffed by well-informed volunteers who will talk to the guests about the history, art collections, decor and architectural design of the homes.
“This year’s tour will be filled with everything from historic cabins to West End Victorians to wonderful contemporary homes,” said chairwoman Cari Britton.
And, this year’s event includes a barbecue picnic, catered by the Hickory House, in the gardens of the society’s Wheeler/Stallard House Museum. The lunch is $6 to $9 per person. It is open to the general public and includes a free tour of the museum for those who are not on the tour. A portion of the proceeds from the picnic will be donated to the Homes Tour.
Homes Tour tickets can be purchased in advance for $35 at the Wheeler Opera House box office; call 920-5770 (an additional $.50 will be charged by the Wheeler). Tickets the day of the tour will be available for $38 at the society office at the museum, 620 W. Bleeker St. All attendees must come to the Historical Society the morning of the tour to pick up their brochures containing the tour maps.
