Aspen Historical Society open house is June 9
The Aspen Historical Society will host an open house at 5 p.m. Tuesday, June 9, to invite the public to learn about the nonprofit’s land-use application for its property at 620 W. Bleeker St. The Historical Society has applied to the city of Aspen for permission to minimize future development potential by subdividing the property and creating transferable development rights (TDRs). This plan would also provide a source of potential future funding for Historical Society as well as the possibility of creating housing for employees or visiting curators, according to a press release from the nonprofit.
Light refreshments will be served and the orgnization’s new exhibit, “Bests, Firsts & Worsts: Aspen in Objects,” will be open for perusing. The public is invited to join.
The Aspen City Council directed staff to move forward with the Burlingame early childhood education center, but decided it needs more information on the affordable housing units that are part of the schematic design at a work session Monday.
