Aspen forecast: sun, snow and brrrr

ASPEN ” After an extended period of nearly daily freshies, sunshine and cold temperatures have settled over Aspen. It’s going to get even colder, but there’s another chance of snow on Tuesday night.

Mostly sunny skies are forecast for Monday and Tuesday morning. Tuesday night could bring 1 to 3 inches of new snow, along with lows of 5 to 15 below zero, according to the National Weather Service. Only the hardiest of souls may seek out fresh tracks on Wednesday morning, though.

Mostly cloudy skies are forecast Wednesday with a 20 percent chance of snow and frigid temperatures ” highs of zero to 10 above are expected, with wind-chill readings of 3 to 13 below.

Lows Wednesday night will plunge to from 10 to 20 below, with wind-chill readings of 13 to 23 below, according to weather service.

Mostly cloudy skies are forecast Thursday and Friday, with highs Thursday of 15 to 25, but wind-chill readings of 13 to 23 below. Highs in the 20s are expected Friday, with wind-chill readings of 16 to 26 below.
