Aspen forecast: Sun or snow?

ASPEN ” A winter weather advisory is in effect for southwestern Colorado on Friday, where 4 to 8 inches of snow are expected, but the National Weather Service is not predicting significant snowfall in the Aspen area.

A 40 percent chance of snow is in Friday’s forecast for Aspen, according to the weather service, but sunny skies prevailed at midday. Highs in the 30s are predicted.

A 20 percent chance of snow remains in Friday night’s forecast, with lows of 5 to 15. On Saturday, the weather service is calling for sunny skies in the morning, becoming partly sunny in the afternoon, with highs in the 30s and west winds of 10 to 15 mph. Lows of 10 to 20 are expected Saturday night.

Mostly cloudy conditions are expected Sunday, with a 30 percent chance of snow and highs in the 30s. There’s a 20 percent chance of snow Sunday night, according to the weather service.

Monday’s forecast calls for partly cloudy skies and highs of 35 to 45.
