Aspen forecast: more snow, wind

ASPEN ” The National Weather Service has issued a snow and blowing snow advisory, in effect from midnight on Thursday to midnight on Friday, for the mountains surrounding Aspen and Snowmass.

Snow, heavy at times, is forecast, with 5 to 9 inches possible by late Friday night, according to the weather service. Gusty winds of up to 35 mph will result in poor visibility and drifting snow, the service warned.

Saturday’s forecast calls for a 20 percent chance of snow with highs of 10 to 20 and west winds of 10 to 15 mph in the afternoon. On Sunday, partly sunny skies are expected with a 20 percent chance of snow and highs of 15 to 25, according to the weather service.
