Aspen Food & Wine makes the list
ASPEN – Residents often clamor to get into the Food & Wine Classic, whether it is through volunteering, getting a perk that comes with the job, or throwing down the thousands of dollars it takes to score a ticket. But it’s not only locals who consider it a can’t-miss festival. This week, national booking agency Travelocity named the Food & Wine Classic in Aspen one of North America’s top 10 festivals. Set for June 15 to 17, Food & Wine came in at No. 6 on the list. “This year marks the 30-year milestone for the legendary Food & Wine Classic in Aspen event filled with good wine, good food and, of course, good times,” Travelocity gushed. “Foodies and wine enthusiasts alike will get to enjoy more events than ever this year including a concert, charity 5K and fireworks show in celebration of the 30th event, not to mention the usual famous chefs, tastings and expert panels.”Food & Wine is in good company, evidenced by other festivals on the list.Topping the list is Fiesta in San Antonio, which is taking place this week. At No. 2 is the World Championship Barbecue Cooking Contest in Memphis, Tenn. The Portland Rose Festival in Oregon held the third spot, while the Atlanta Jazz Festival came in fourth. Just in front of Food & Wine, at No. 5, is the Bonnaroo Music and Arts Festival in Manchester, Tenn.
