Aspen fireworks delayed, events in Wagner Park will continue

ASPEN ” Aspen’s New Year’s Eve fireworks display has been delayed until 12 p.m., due to a bomb scare in the downtown core, according to authorities.

The bonfire and DJ in Wagner Park, scheduled to begin at 8 p.m., will continue. That area has been deemed safe, said Aspen Police Chief Richard Pryor.

Businesses within a 16-block section of Aspen’s downtown corridor, south of Main Street, are still closed until further notice.

Sections of downtown will be opened as the bomb squad from Grand Junction is able to release areas, according to Aspen Police Chief Richard Pryor.
