Aspen dentist is OK after he’s hit by bus

Aspen dentist Dr. William Comcowich sustained minor injuries when he was struck by a tour bus in Waikiki, Hawaii last Friday.

Comcowich, who was in Hawaii for the annual meeting of the American Dental Association, was walking on a sidewalk adjacent to the Hilton Hawaiian Village in Waikiki, when an open cargo door of a tour bus hit him in the back, according to a written statement from Jerry Comcowich.

“He was propelled twenty feet forward and slammed into the sidewalk,” Jerry Comcowich said. “A bystander retrieved his glasses some thirty feet from where he landed. Several witnesses reported that the bus was traveling 25 miles an hour when its door hit Comcowich.”

Comcowich was taken to a nearby hospital where he was treated for minor injuries, the statement said.

Following the accident, Comcowich said: “Well, life is full of surprises. Who would ever have thought. Here I am walking down the sidewalk, enjoying the beautiful Hawaii weather … and bam! the next thing I know I’m flying through the air and land in a heap. The bad news is that I got run over by a bus. The good news is that I wasn’t more seriously injured. I can only say, `Praise the Lord,’ and sing, `Hallelujah.’ “
