Aspen Cycling Club hosts Maroon Bells time trial

The Aspen Cycling Club pedals into the final stretch of the season this week.

Today’s weekly race is the Maroon Bells Time Trial for road bikes.

The race is open with pre-event registration available.

The time trial will start at the base of Aspen Highlands at 6 p.m.

The course is approximately seven miles in length with an elevation gain of 1,400 feet.

It will finish at the highest section of paved roadway, the bus stop loop next to the visitor center buildings.

There is no specific start order or groupings for the time trial. Riders will leave in 30-second intervals.

Registration will be from 5-5:45 p.m. at Highlands. Entry is $5 for Aspen Cycling Club members, $10 for nonmembers.

Next week, the Aspen Cycling Club will return to mountain bike racing Aug. 10 with the Snowmass Cross Country Mountain Bike Race.

The annual Butterhack MTB Race will follow on Aug. 17, rescheduled from a rainout June 8.

The Sky Mountain Park MTB Race will be Aug. 24.

And the Emma Roubaix Road Race will close the regular season Aug. 31.

Sept. 7 is set as a makeup date, if needed.

The annual awards banquet will be Sept. 24.
