Aspen, county accepting grant requests from nonprofits

ASPEN – The city of Aspen and Pitkin County are now accepting grant applications from area non-profits for funding in 2013.

Nonprofit organizations that are dedicated to working together to strengthen the quality of life in the Roaring Fork Valley are eligible to apply.

Grant requests for the city and the county must be applied for separately, and the requests are reviewed by citizen grant-review committees. Each committee then makes recommendations for funding to its governing body.

For more information or to receive a grant application packet, contact Sheila Babbie in the city’s Finance Department at 970-920-5040 or Mitzi Ledingham in the Health and Human Services Department of Pitkin County at 970-920-5766.

The deadline for completed applications is 4 p.m. on Aug. 1. Grant information also is available on the Web at

Late applications will not be considered.
