ASPEN ” Aspen police are investigating a possible sexual assault on a 3-year-old child.

Investigators would not divulge details of the ongoing investigation but are seeking a person of interest in the alleged crime.

Police officer Jeff Fain said police are not ready to release information such as where or when the crime might have occurred.

Deputy District Attorney Gail Nichols said there currently is not enough evidence on which to base an arrest warrant in the case.

However, Fain said police are actively looking for a man, who might be calling himself Martin Valecia Munoz ” or Miguel Martin Fuentes ” in connection with the case.

Fain said the man, a Hispanic male in his mid to late 30s, was seen in Pitkin County on Monday night by a bus driver.

Police are worried he might be leaving town.

“I hope he shows up in the next few days for the family’s sake,” Fain said. “They are devastated.”

Fain urged anyone with information on the man’s whereabouts to call the Aspen Police Department at 920-5400.
