Aspen, Basalt rescuers respond to report of deceased hunter

PITKIN COUNTY – Pitkin County rescuers responded to a report of a deceased hunter late Thursday in the Triangle Peak area, north of Woody Creek.
The man was hunting with three friends, and was found dead inside a tent at their hunting camp by one of his companions, according to the Pitkin County Sheriff’s Office. The camp was located about 6 miles up Red Rim Road.
All of the members of the hunting party are local residents; no names have been released, pending notification of the deceased hunter’s next of kin, the sheriff’s office said.
The sheriff’s office, Basalt firefighters, Mountain Rescue Aspen and the Pitkin County coroner’s office responded to the call at about 11:30 p.m. Thursday. Basalt Fire responded with one ATV and Mountain Rescue responded with two ATVs.
