Aspen Art Museum issued certificate of occupancy

Staff report

The city of Aspen signed off on the new Aspen Art Museum on Friday afternoon, issuing the building’s certificate of occupancy and clearing the way for Saturday’s ribbon-cutting and members’ opening.

City chief building official Stephen Kanipe said he signed off on the building at 4:20 p.m. Friday after final inspections of the space continued Thursday night and Friday.

“We had a pretty good push to get it across the finish line but the ribbon-cutting is on,” said Kanipe.

The new downtown museum opens to members today and to the public next Saturday.
