Aspen-area environmental organizations to be showcased on TV segment
Roaring Fork Outdoor Volunteers and Aspen Center for Environmental Studies, in partnership with Aspen Skiing Co.’s Environment Foundation, will be featured in the latest episode of “Give,” a program of NBCUniversal’s “The More You Know” initiative.
The series features NBC News correspondent and founder of UNICEF’s Next Generation, Jenna Bush Hager, and other celebrity ambassadors interested in inspiring others to do good. In each episode, the celebrity ambassadors visit two charities identified by a partner foundation that use innovation, best practices and dedication to make change in their communities and the world.
The Environment Foundation episode will showcase Roaring Fork Outdoor Volunteers’ Young Stewards Initiative program with a mission to help create the next generation of outdoor stewards by involving young people in the care of trails and public lands. It also will feature the Aspen Center for Environmental Studies’ program ACES Ed, which partners with more than 50 regional schools to provide in-school lessons and field science programs that help teachers meet state science standards while offering local children the opportunity to explore their outdoor environment.
Both organizations are supported by The Environment Foundation, a collaboration with the Aspen Community Foundation and the Skico Family Fund, is a nonprofit employee-supported granting organization dedicated to protecting and preserving the regional environment.
The episode will be available on-demand Sunday on NBC.com and Hulu. It will air locally at 12:30 p.m. Tuesday on channel 9.
